Peachy Keen Stamps September Blog Hop

Hello Everyone! Welcome to another Peachy Keen Stamps’ Release HOP! These are so much fun, not only because any NEW release is exciting, but because each “hopper” (yep, that’s YOU) could win one, two, three, four, or ALL the sets in the release today! Each DT member has a set to give away and will choose their winner on Monday, October 4th. You’ll want to be sure and check back on Monday, because if my winner doesn’t contact me, I’m sorry but I’ll have to choose another. :( Before I go into more detail on my prize, here is my card!

I attended a Tim Holtz technique card workshop last weekend and LOVED all the techniques! As you can see, I used a few of them on my “Frankly…” card here! Since Peachy Keen Stamps are whimsical, and have clean lines, it was important to leave my background fairly light. I chose to distress only a few elements and keep it simple so the styles didn’t look ridiculous together. You tell me if you think I succeeded! I definitely want to experiment mixing and matching styles a lot more because it’s just too much fun to break the rules! :)

I am giving one lucky winner a set of “Frankly” which has so many more fun images than what I used on my card today. It is so versatile and can be used to make bags, cards, or even tags with the little “sweet tooth” (he is hilarious!).

To win this set, there’s just a few things you need to do:

1. “Like” the Peachy Keen Stamps page on Facebook (we won’t flood your news feed; we post things that are inspirational, fun, and beneficial to our fans and customers)

2. Become a follower on both our NEWS (peachykeenstamps.blogspot.com) & CHALLENGE blog (peachykeenstampschallenge.blogspot.com) if you’re not already.

3. Become a follower on my blog via NetworkedBlogs (connects thru Facebook) or via email or RSS subscription.

3. Leave me a comment ON THIS POST telling me you’ve done the above and what your favorite Halloween costume was as a child. If you don’t celebrate Halloween, tell me what your favorite FALL tradition is. SUPER SIMPLE!

OHHHH! And before I forget, we have something else REALLY exciting to tell you! Peachy Keen Stamps and CottageCutz have teamed up again to bring you some adorable Halloween dies that I am DYING to get my hands on next week! You can too!! They are available for purchase beginning today and will begin shipping next week!

If you got here by way of Lisa, you’re on the right track. If not, here is the entire hop order – you don’t want to miss a single stop!

Si tengo alas…

Happy Friday everyone! It’s Hispanic Heritage month, and on Wednesday, Prismacolor highlighted Mexican artist Frida Kahlo on their Facebook page. I LOVE Frida. Her paintings reflect her soul, and if you look at any of them, you are hit with a raw emotion, that at times, can be very powerful. I decided to create something using my Prismacolor pencils (as Copics have taken over as my coloring go-to medium lately) and that highlighted Frida in my project.

This started out as an ATC card. I had masked Frida’s profile and embossed a cool pattern for wallpaper then sprayed with glimmer mists (to represent the wallpaper in my inspiration photo). I didn’t like how dark it came out, though, so I opted to cut her profile out and create a card. The sentiment is handwritten and reads – Pies, para qué los quiero si tengo alas para volar… / Feet, what do I need you for if I have wings to fly” It’s a quote from Frida Kahlo that she wrote before she had her foot amputated.

I used Melody Ross’s sparrows from her “One Precious Life” set by Unity Stamp Co. I am not sure if they are still available on the website, as when I ordered them online a few weeks ago, they did say they were shipping to stores soon (thus becoming unavailable on the website). I absolutely love this quote, I think it can be interpreted to mean so much more than the physical transformation she was about to experience.

Recipe:

Pattern Paper – DCWV “Mi Casa” stack

Ink – Tim Holtz Distress Ink Antique Linen & Old Paper

Stamps – Unity Stamp Co (One Precious Life by Melody Ross)

Sentiment – Handwritten using Copic Multiliner in .5 thickness

Medium – Prismacolor Pencils & odorless mineral spirits as a blending agent.

Thanks for stopping by! xo Angelica

Sorry I’m so Pushy!

Hi Everyone! I wanted to share a card I made for my mom this weekend. I saw this stamp set from Unity Stamp Co. at Archivers this weekend, and knew I just had to have it! Working with both my mom and sister is a lot of fun, but as you can imagine, like any family, we tend to push each others buttons from time to time! We keep our sense of humor always, and that is why I made her this card. Life’s too short to take things too serious! Hope you like it!
