Welcome to the second stop on Ruthie’s awesome Banner Blog Hop!! (and please, excuse the mess…I decided last night would be a GREAT night to update the look-and-feel of my blog…you’re sensing my sarcasm aren’t you? hehe I’ll be working on it some more this weekend to get it looking just right. ; ) ) If you came here from Alex’s blog, then you’re hopping along just perfect! If not, you’ll want to start there first so you don’t miss a single stop. There are lots of giveaways along the way, so be sure to visit all the blogs on the list if you can.
Today I’m sharing a super cute way to dress up your desk space for the holidays. Turns out, banners are really hard to photograph!! Especially late at night! So, you’ll have to forgive the “aerial” shot, hopefully it’s bright enough that you can see all the elements. I’ll see if I can get a better picture when there’s some natural light coming through my window.
I used coordinating pattern paper (Everybody loves Christmas by Bella Road) and covered chipboard triangles that I cut for each letter in my message. The ribbon is “Ripe Avocado” and “Pure Poppy” from Papertrey Ink. I also used the same colors in Papertrey Ink cardstock on the base circle and each letter. Oh, and for the letters, I used one of my favorite type faces – American Typewriter, and cut them on the Silhouette by QuicKutz. Nifty!
I distressed the circles a bit (as well as the tree) and used the Basic Grey “Frost” embossing folder by Sizzix to give the top circle a little bit of texture. Don’t those colors just make you wanna throw on some mittens and go sledding?
Here is the tree – I turned some leftover circles I had into a few ornaments and used PK-232 Snowflakes and Faces from Peachy Keen Stamps to stamp their cute little snowman expressions.
I snuck in some “Maraschino” twine on the tree from The Twinery. If you haven’t tried their twine yet, let me tell ya, you’re MISSING OUT! LOL Yes, you will be that excited about their super soft string! I absolutely love it and can’t wait to play some more with it!
While I was making this banner, I couldn’t help but think of all the fun new little traditions my husband and I will share with our girls – I hope once they’re old enough, we’ll make holiday decorations and open up the Advent calendar together.
What is your favorite holiday tradition? Leave a comment on this post telling me what it is and I’ll draw two random winners on November 8th who will win either this adorable set of “Christmas Tag Minis” from Peachy Keen Stamps:

or this lil’ “Follow Your Heart” Birdie set from Market Street Stamps:

There is still PLENTY of inspiration to be seen! Click below to jump over to Miss Erin’s blog, or take a peek at the bottom of this post to find where you left off! Happy Hopping!

Hi Angelica,
This is Nicole from the Hop. I came by on Saturday but couldn’t find the comment button. Now I know where it is, Lol. But I wanted to come back by and comment on your banner. I think it’s very cute. I love the patterned papers you used. They are really fun. And the distressing was a really nice touch. :)
Absolutely beautiful!!!! Love the bright and fun colors!!! It is an honor to be in this hop with you! XOXO Momo
my favorite tradition is the big family meals. as we get older we no longer have dinner together every night. but its just like when your kids again during the holidays. with dinner at the parents except for a few extra people :)
Angelica,
What a cute banner!!! :) I love the colors!
My favorite holiday tradition is baking Christmas-shaped sugar cookies with my two little ones (my son is turning 8 and my daughter is 6 1/2, but we’ve been doing it the last 6 years)!
Thank you so much for sharing and for the chance to win (I love Peachy Keen Stamps!),

One tradition my family has started as a way to keep the kids out of the presents. They are now 25, 21, and 19, but you would never know it around this time of year. I do not use name tags on the gifts. I choose a different paper for each kid and the one spouse and wrap all of their gifts in that paper. When it is time to open them, they all predict whose are whose and tell why they think so. Most of the time they get pretty close to matching them all. It is fun, and really easy to pass out gifts!!
AWSOME!! TFS :o)

I forgot to share a tradition! We open two sets of presents on Christmas Eve. They are ALWAYS jammies and an ornament!
What an adorable banner! LOVE it!
New to your blog! Love your banner! My favorite tradition is going to pick out my Christmas tree after Thanksgiving dinner! Thanks for a chance to win!
Hi! New to your blog! I just love this banner blog hop! I’ve never made one!! Anyway, my favorite holiday tradition is going to church on Christmas Eve with my family. After church we drive around neighborhoods to see the lights and we end the night with our gift exchange. It’s so much fun!
We always let the kids open 2 gifts on Christmas Eve, 1 is always a set of pajamas to wear that night and Christmas morning and the other is a toy to play with for the evening. I love the Christmas Season :).

Super cute banner! Love how you snuck the PK faces on the tree =) My favorite tradition is putting up a countdown calendar on both my daugher’s bedroom doors. I put a little treat in each of the pockets (each day has a pocket) for the girls to have on that day. TFS

Very creative! TFS!
My fav holiday tradition is on Christmas Eve. Every year a family member dresses up as Santa and brings a sack full of gifts for the children. We take lots of pictures with “Santa”, yes even the adults. It has brought much laughter, joy, and even tears, through the years.
I love making gingerbread houses with my niece and nephew!
Love the banner. Our family tradition is to eat as a family then go over to relatives to celebrate with them.
Beautiful banner you made, TFS:)
My favorite holiday tradition…. I love everything about holidays, decorating, the food, yummi:) being with my family, we are a pretty new family, 2 small children 1 and 3, I’m so excited for all the holidays to come, building memories and family tradetions over the years… LOVE it:)
Love the banner – so glad I hopped in and found you!

Great banner….love the papers you chose and the typeface font. I had all intentions of making a banner for Halloween, but couldn’t squeeze it in. I’m going to set aside some time Thanksgiving weekend to make one for Christmas…and let my kids pick out the embellishments. :-) My favorite Christmas tradition is making dozens and dozens of festive cookies with my 4 children. It’s messy…but fun! TFS!

Very cute banner. Our family tradition is watching the National Lampoons Christmas Vacation on Christmas Eve and we also bake cookies for Santa Clause. :-)
I love your banner!! It”s so cute, and I love the background texture you did on it! I also love the owl in the background of your pic of your banner, LOL!!!
Favorite holiday tradition is that we each take turns opening our gifts instead of everyone going crazy and rpping everything open at once. This way we get to enjoy the giving and the receiving, and it makes Christmas last longer! :-)
Great banner and great giveaway!!
Thanks so much!
