Celebrations of the Heart – Blog Hop

Hello Crafty friends! Welcome to this stop on the “Celebrations of the Heart” Blog Hop! If you found your way over from Crazy About Cricut, then you’re on the right track and hopping along just fine. If not, please jump on over to Alina’s blog so you don’t miss a single stop! Big thanks to Alina for asking me to be a part of this – it could not have come at a more appropriate time.

We were asked to create a project to celebrate an event for a loved one. It could be a birthday, anniversary, or the day you met your best friend. How sweet is that?

Last month {just a few short weeks ago}, we celebrated my Grandfather’s 80th Birthday. He was healthy, active, drove, went to church each Sunday, and worked in his garage every day. Not bad for 80, huh?

Well, silly me. I forgot his birthday card at home that day, and never managed to get it to him before his untimely death less than two weeks after this photo was taken. You can read more about my Grandpa and the impact he had on me here on my personal blog, Typical Aquarian.

I made this at a weekend crop the weekend before his birthday and told my friend DoBea, “This is so juvenile for my grandpa’s birthday. Do you think he’ll like it?” And DoBea told me what I knew was true, “He’ll love it because you made it.” And I know that he would have. He was so very proud of everything I did.
MATERIALS USED:
Cardstock: Stampin’ Up, Copic Xpress Blender Card, Manilla Tag Stock
Pattern Paper: ? Not sure – from DoBea’s stash!
Stamps: Duck Dolls {Peachy Keen Stamps}, Celebrate Cake {Market Street Stamps}
Ink: Tuxedo Black {Memento}
Misc: Copic Markers

Here is a close up of the ducky. This is one of my all-time favorite stamp sets from Peachy Keen! I’m THRILLED to let you know they are finally made into thin metal dies as well! Take a peek here! They are SO easy to use and even more beautiful once pieced together. Use the thin metal dies in your Cuttlebug, and virtually any other manual die-cutter out there!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Alina will be giving away some Market Street Stamps via her blog, but I will also offer two little giveaways here.

Just head on over and “like” Market Street Stamps’ Facebook page & “like” Peachy Keen Stamps’ Facebook page to be entered to win an “Enjoy Today” stamp set from Market Street Stamps & a “Duck Doll” stamp set from Peachy Keen Stamps! Be sure to leave a comment here letting me know you’ve done both!

Now it’s time to hop on over to your next stop – the talented Mary! If you happen to get lost along the way, here is a complete line up for you! Happy Hopping and good luck, everyone! :)

Hello everyone! Welcome to KinderStampO’s 34 Birthday Balloons and Counting Hop! If you just arrived here from the very talented Alex’s Blog {You Had me at Craft}, you are right where you should be! If you didn’t, but still want to check out the rest of the hop – jump over to KinderStampO.com to get started!

I know, I know, two blog hops in one weekend, how’s a girl {like you} gonna keep up? ;) If you are looking for the Peachy Keen Stamps January Release Hop post, please click {here}. You’re totally going to want to leave a comment on that post ’cause you could win an entire Wide-Eyed face assortment! We’re leaving the hop open all weekend long, so you have plenty of time to make the rounds and leave comments for chances to win at each stop!

So today, I am honored to be participating in another exciting and HUGE hop {really, there are over 40 stops on this one!!} in honor of Jessica @ KinderStampO’s birthday on the 24th! Jess is a super sweet blogger who showcases the coolest paper crafting techniques with the hottest items! Thanks so much for asking me to be a part of this, Jess!

In honor of the birthday girl, I created a card that I thought was heartwarming and fun! It’s crazy, but this was my first COMPLETE card with one of the little robots that started it all for me {Market Street Stamps}.

Since today is also my birthday, I’m going to do two giveaways – so be sure to check the end of this post for TWO chances to win!

pssst… you also get to see a sneaky peek of one of Market Street’s newest sets that are releasing next Friday too! {Happy Birthday sentiment}

Robo Love Birthday CardMATERIALS USED:

Border Punch: EK Success
Steel Rule Die: Ornamental {Alterations by Tim Holtz}

Wren’s Turning One!

My cousin John and his wife Jessica’s little girl, Wren, is turning one soon, and to celebrate her birthday, they had a party at Wren’s grandparents’ gorgeous lake house today! Jess decorated Wren’s bedroom in a beautiful, fun, bright color scheme, perfect for a growing little one who is anxious to explore the world around them. I used photos of Wren’s nursery as inspiration for her birthday card. I love Jess’s sense of style, so I really wanted to make Wren a card that reflected that!

I stepped out of my comfort zone with this one as you’ll notice I used NO STAMPS! Except, heh, on the inside where I stamped “Happy Birthday”. I couldn’t resist, I also stamped a cute little birthday cake (not pictured) on the matching tag for the gift bag. This card also gave me an opportunity to use the new Silhouette my mom purchased a few weeks ago that has been idly awaiting to be pried out of its box. It sat patiently in my room while we prepared and successfully pulled off our first time exhibiting at CHA the last week in July! Phew! Fun time begins NOW! The “1″ in the circle is what I experimented with, and it was surprisingly easy! I used a font right out of my computer, lined it up in Illustrator, and voila! LOVE IT! For added dimension, I layered the cut image on top of red card stock, and popped it up with pop dots. Take a peek at the recipe listed below for  materials used and let me know what you think?

Card Base: Kraft cardstock  (this particular card I used a value pack I picked up at Michael’s)

Pattern Paper: From the “Penny Lane” stack from My Mind’s Eye

Buttons: Papertrey Ink

Glitter: Doodlebug Designs – Sugar Coating (I used orange glitter on top of orange cardstock. I love this stuff, it reminds me of sprinkles on a cake!)

Doodled polka dots: White Sakura Gelly Roll Pen

Thanks for stopping by! ~ Angelica xo
