Sizzix Fresh Vintage Blog Hop

Hi Everyone and welcome to The Sizzix Fresh Vintage by Eileen Hull Blog Hop! I am SUPER excited to show you an easy project using the 3D Fringed Flower Die and my go-to neutral twine, Cappuccino from The Twinery!!

First, I want to say how excited I am to be a part of this HUGE hop with so many talented people! Can you believe there are 60 designers participating?! I know, it seems like a lot, but it’s all broken down quite nicely. Here’s how it’s set up:

  • Each week, for 6 weeks, there will be new projects featured in the hop. You don’t need to worry about finding a long link list or a specific post, because that fun little button on my right side bar? It will automatically take you to the most recent projects.
  • Did you miss a day or miss a week? Don’t worry, just visit the “FAQ” section at the bottom of this post for more info!
So, ready to see what I created? Let’s go!

Using some chocolate brown and turquoise felt, I ran my die through in my Big Shot Pro.

Super easy, clean cuts.

To create my card, I simply used Fabri-Tac – that’s right – NO sewing -

to glue my flower elements together.

I whipped some twine through a cream button and adhered it with more Fabri-Tac.

I’m surprised I still have all my brain cells after all that glue sniffing!

I polished it up a bit with some shiny silver iRock gems and threaded some Cappuccino twine for a border.

If you are looking for just one neutral twine color, I highly recommend this color from the Twinery.

It seriously matches ANYTHING I can’t match with another color! The sentiment is one of my sentiment designs that was included in the “Chillaxin” set from Market Street Stamps!

Oh wait…what’s this I see? A hidden gem! It’s a pin!

How fun would it be to receive a card that doubles as the gift?

I’m not talking gift cards, folks, this is a brooch you can wear right after you receive the card.

Simply use a bit of hot glue to adhere your pin back to your felt flower and attach

through the front of your card.

I really want to whip up a dozen more of these for an inexpensive little holiday gift.

I think my jean jacket I use in the Fall will appreciate this little accessory very much. ;)

Here’s everything ELSE you need to know about this awesome, awesome hop and the SUPER talented designers who will also be showcasing their projects:

FAQ about the Fresh Vintage Blog Hop:

How do I hop around to see ideas using the current featured die?

Every Tuesday and Thursday between September 27-November 3, 2011 there will be a
new Sizzix Fresh Vintage die featured on 6-10 participating designers’ blogs.
The navigation buttons for “Hop Back” and “Hop Forward” will allow you to easily
hop around and see projects featuring whatever the current die is, since those
buttons are programmed to navigate only to the blogs that are participating for
that die. On the next Tuesday/Thursday, the buttons will automatically reprogram
themselves to navigate to the blogs that are signed up for the next featured
die.

What if I start at a designer’s blog that isn’t one of the 6-10 signed up for
that die?

No problem! Simply hit either the “Hop Forward” or “Hop Back” button on the
Fresh Vintage navigation widget from any blog’s sidebar and you’ll automatically
advance to one of the participating blogs.

Can I go back and view the ideas for a previously featured die?

Of course! Go to Eileen Hull’s blog and find the Fresh Vintage Permalinks button
on her “Blog Hops” page. It will bring up her blog posts where you’ll find
direct links to each participating blog along with a thumbnail image of the
project.

Where can I buy the Sizzix Fresh Vintage dies, by Eileen Hull?

You can visit Sizzix.com to find a local and online retailers for Sizzix
products. Also be sure to visit Oh My Crafts, (http://ohmycrafts.blogspot.com/)
one of this blog hop’s sponsors, (between the dates of September 27-November 12,
2011) and enter for a chance to win a Flower Layers #9 die!

The Blog Hop has ended and the navigation widget is no longer in the sidebar.
How can I see the ideas?

Go to Eileen Hull’s blog and find the “Blog Hops” page. It will bring up her
blog posts where you’ll find direct links to each participating blog along with
a thumbnail image of the project.

Market Street Stamps – August Sneak Peek

Hello hello! Just a quick post tonight to let you know that Market Street Stamps will be releasing FIVE new sets tomorrow! YAY! These are some of my favorite sets we’ve released and they are a little different than my typical style, which makes them even more exciting! We have florals, we have a little cow themed set and a gingham and a cane weave background!

Tonight I’m sharing a card I created using “For All it’s Worth” (the cow-themed set, as you might imagine hehe).

I couldn’t resist creating in a “farm fresh” color scheme, so I used a combination of blues, reds, and yellows. I created a hilly background using Copics. I only used three greens and just blended over to create the shapes. I then added in the grassy tufts using a Spica pen in “Olive” for a little bit of dimension. The sweet cow (whom I have nicknamed Pearl in my own crazy mind) was also colored with Copics.

I found an unopened package of “Americana” dimensional stickers I purchased by K&Co. They are so perfect for this card, don’t you think? It might also be hard to see, but I stamped our new “Gingham” background in a buttercream yellow on the yellow cardstock. Next time, I’ll use just a shade darker and it will be exactly what I was looking for.

Oh, and of course I had the most beautiful twine from The Twinery to coordinate the card with! Told you, I’m a little obsessed with the Buttercream and Denim right now! ;)

That’s it for tonight, please be sure to pop on over to the Market Street Stamps blog to see the other AMAZING creations our DT has for you this week. They are seriously beautiful. I am so so so over the moon about them!! Plus, you can win just by commenting. Easy!

ALL new releases will be 15% off immediately following the release and will be 25% off if you purchase all the sets together! :)

Have a fabulous night, everyone!!

Market Street’s January Release Hop

Hi Everyone! I am so so so excited to share a card I created for our first Market Street Stamps‘ blog hop! If you just arrived here from lovely Samantha’s blog, then you’re hopping along in perfect unison. If not, you’ll want to probably check the list at the bottom of this post to see a full hop order and pick up where you left off! There’s so many chances to win over the weekend, I’d hate for you to miss a single stop!

For my card tonight, I chose to once again visit Card Patterns and enter their sketch challenge. I LOOOOVE their weekly sketches and they are especially helpful when I’m creating a card in a pinch or just drawing a blank on a layout. I knew I loved the colors this yummy MME designer paper had in it, but after I put my card together and photographed it, I was like, wait a second. This looks like Halloween! I tried to bring in as much variation as possible by adding in that SUPER fun & easy strip of 7Gypsies masking tape and another layer of the designer paper at the bottom.

MATERIALS USED:
Cardstock:
Smokey Shadow, Summer Sunrise {Papertrey Ink}
Designer Paper: Ooh La La for Him {My Mind’s Eye}
Ink: Weathered Wood, Forest Moss, Dried Marigold, Black Soot {Distress Ink}
Stamps: So Happy {Market Street Stamps} – releasing @ Midnight tonight!
Fibers: Cream & Natural Rustic Twine {Papertrey Ink}, Cappucino Twine {The Twinery} (they’re having a 25% off sale until 1/31!!!)
Misc: Pattern Masking Tape {7Gypsies} – this stuff is so easy to use – you just pleat and it sticks to itself creating a fabulous faux sewn look!, Spellbinders Circle Nestabilities

Linking to these challenges: CardPatterns

I created this set to be small enough for tags, but large enough that you could layer around it, which is what I’ve done here. ;)

Hope you enjoyed my card, now scoot on over to sweet Steph’s blog to see what beauty she’s created for you!

psst…make sure you leave plenty of comments on the design teams’ blogs & “like” us on Facebook for like, a gagillion chances to win!

(ok a gagillion is a little far fetched. how much is that anyway? has to be more than a BAZILLION)

Music Mondays {Satellite}

Hi Everyone! Welcome to another Music Monday! Thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes and sweet comments you left for me on my blog, Facebook, and via email!! I had the best birthday, surrounded by family, friends & good times! My husband and I went to a really nice restaurant near the water (although it’s ice right now ;) ) and enjoyed some yummy wine and steak!

Erin emailed me this weekend and found a song she liked a little better than the first one she picked. I was totally fine with it because I love the second song she chose, “Satellite” by Guster. The song is the inspiration this week, with a “stars, moon, or sky” theme. I wanted to create something that was kind fun but also gender-neutral. Here’s the song in case you don’t know it:

I knew immediately I would use Unity’s January Kit of the Month, but wanted to use a rocket ship to go with it. Hmmm. I don’t have any rocket ship stamps. Or paper. Hmmm. So I drew one! I used my Copic Multi liners (these are wonderful for touching up your stamped images, too. They won’t bleed when colored over with your Copics), Copic Markers, and my white Gelly Roll pen for the highlights.

MATERIALS USED:
Cardstock: Smokey Shadow {Papertrey Ink}
Ink:Tuxedo Black – sentiment {Memento}, Gray - to ink edges on sentiment – from Beach Ball Paintbox Pigment Inkpad {ColorBox}
Pattern Paper: Sunkissed {Bo Bunny}
Stamps: Sentiment from January Kit of the Month {Unity}
Misc:Border Punch {Martha Stewart}, Copic Markers, Copic Multi Liner 0.5, White Gelly Roll Pen

Hope you all enjoyed today’s card – I’ll be back later today with the winners from KinderStampO’s 34 Years and Counting Blog Hop and the Peachy Keen Stamps Blog Hop! Now, head on over to Erin’s blog to see who our Music Monday Winner was from last week, what she’s created for you today and to link up to play along to win this adorable Unity Stamp:

Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge #19

I can’t believe I let so much time go in between posts! I promise (New Years Resolution) I will update way more often. I’ve been busy creating cards and gifts, and just haven’t been sharing on the blog. :(

We’re up to Challenge #19 over at Peachy Keen Stamps!! How exciting! Everyone has really blown us away with how creative they can be, and our design team is BEYOND amazing! Go check Emma’s, Lorie’s, Viv’s, Janice’s, Nikki’s, and Jacqui’s gorgeous cards to see what I mean! This week, you have a chance to win Peachy Keen’s newest face assortment – Simple Sallies! They are a great companion to our Simple Simon assortment pack.

For my card, which was, ahem, late! I decided to use the Winter Peekers and Phrases set. I love these guys because it brings me back to when I was seven, punching out the perforated paper dolls. Only now, it is much more time consuming and intricate! I loved interchanging different outfits on the same doll, and with paper piecing, you get to do just that! I used the super fun “Eskimo Kisses” paper from Basic Grey (courtesy of Kathy Claus) and I love how it turned out. My goal was to really focus on the coloring and paper piecing, but I definitely need to visit a technique forum/challenge to get some new inspiration. I have a feeling all my projects are starting to look alike! Let me know if you guys know any great tutorials or forums I could check out! I have FIVE pictures of this card, because I couldn’t choose which ones to post and also, I tried to capture the dimension. I really tried to pop out the characters as much as possible, thus, keeping the background pretty flat. Not sure how well it looks on camera, but in person, it really “pops”! I used Prismacolor colored pencils and Gamsol to blend my character’s faces, and used Copics to outline their scarves. Ribbon is from American Crafts, and I just did some hand-stitch on the bottom border with white embroidery floss.

Thanks for looking, and good luck in the challenge!
