Just a little Sparkle and Cheer

Good Morning friends! I know, I know, it’s wayyy too early to start thinking about Christmas…or is it? :) I created a little sparkly card for The Scrapping Cottage blog today – I would love for you to go take a peek!

I used the new Ornate Holiday Tree - it’s easily not only one of my favorites in the release, but one of my favorite dies ever!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I am heading out to Minneapolis tomorrow to spend some much needed time with one of my bestest girl friends! I can’t wait!

Witchy Wishes

Good Morning everyone, I’m so glad you could stop by this morning – have you SEEN the new Halloween dies from The Scrapping Cottage? Oh my goodness, they arrived in my mailbox this week and I couldn’t wait to start creating!
Pre-order these adorable dies HERE!
Of course, loving Halloween, when I recently traveled to Milwaukee and visited the Miller Brewery, I couldn’t help but think their famous “Girl in the Moon” High Life logo resembled a witch.
When I saw the “Elegant Witch Legs” die, it totally reminded me of the colors in the High Life logo.
Luckily, I still had some of my favorite Basic Grey Halloween pattern paper (“Freak” in the Eerie Collection), so using that as my color inspiration, I created this card! I used some olive, cream and orange cardstock to piece my witch legs, and glitter to dress up the stars on her skirt. I cut extra stars and used those to accent the frame. VersaMagic chalk ink in “Hint of Pesto”, “Pumpkin Spice” and “Sahara Sand” really brought everything to life. I used just a bit of Distress Stickles in “Peeled Paint” on her boots, and some rustic cream twine for that peek-a-boo bow. I finished the card off with a sentiment from “Lisa Jean Halloween” (Peachy Keen Stamps).
I hope you like it, I’m totally in the mood for Halloween now! By the way, have you joined the Cottage Challenge yet for August? You still have until next weekend to join in the fun and be in the running for a $25 Gift Certificate to the Scrapping Cottage!! I know there’s at least one of these new dies that you just have to have!!
Have a safe, happy weekend everyone!! xo Angelica

NEW colors from The Twinery!

Introducing….three of my newest FAVORITE hues from the Twinery ….

Seriously. I am in LOVE.

Did you stop by The Twinery’s blog yesterday?

Nicole revealed the new colors and announced that entire spools are

 just $12.00 for a limited time to celebrate the new colors!

How FUN! This is the PERFECT time to get you some twine.

I crafted a little card to showcase my new faves:

The silhouette is a Cottage Cutz die – from the “Aubrey” collection of paper designed by My Little Shoebox.

If you haven’t seen MLS new releases, allow me to lift the rock you’ve been living under,

because they’ve teamed up with stellar manufacturers like Cottage Cutz (for thin metal dies)

and Unity Stamp Co. (for their designs in rubbah!)

SO much MLS love! And I’m not complaining ONE BIT.

I kept my card very clean and simple to highlight the scrumptious twine.

All I did was simply ink up the edges of my die cut pieces softly and striped my twine using Glossy Accents. How’s THAT for easy and beautiful?

MATERIALS USED:
Cardstock: White {stash}, Stampin’ Up, Papertrey Ink
Ink: Distress Ink
Fiber: Denim, Buttercream, Stone {The Twinery}
Misc: Cameo & Oval Frame {CottageCutz – designed by MLS}, Glossy Accents, Foam Tape

Stay tuned…this won’t be the last you see of these new colors on my blog!!! :) Have a great Monday! – Angelica

That Pout + an Announcement!

Hey everyone and Happy Sunday!! I am so so SO excited to share the news that was announced on the CottageBlog yesterday – I’m a new design team member for Cottage Cutz by The Scrapping Cottage!!

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Joanne and Greg (owners of the Scrapping Cottage) as well as some of my new fellow designers a few times, and I am beyond thrilled to be designing for a wonderful company with such amazing people behind it! The Cottage Cutz design team is a fabulously talented bunch, and I’m flattered to design along with them.

BY THE WAY – if you visit their site and like what you see, they are going to be giving away a FREE die from their new collection! They’ve teamed up with My Little Shoebox for some adorable designs! Here’s what you gotta do:

  • Head over to their Facebook page and “like” them (you’ll stay up to date on contests, new releases, and giveaways!)
  • Leave a comment under their status so you can be entered in the contest!
  • Then, write on their wall letting them know Angelica sent you! Just for fun! :)
And now for my project…
I don’t scrapbook as much as I should. In fact, I can probably count on my two hands how many layouts I’ve actually completed. But, when I saw the Peeker Pocket I knew I had to fill it with some fun pull-out journaling. I tend to get overwhelmed when I start a 12×12 page, so I decided to use the pocket size as my guide and created an 8×8 page which ended up being a perfect proportion, don’t you think?
MATERIALS USED:
Cardstock: light blue {from my stash}
Designer Paper: Emma’s Shoppe {Crate Paper}, Stella & Rose – Mabel Collection {My Mind’s Eye}
Stamps: “Vintage Notepad” {Market Street Stamps}
Thin Metal Die: “Peeker Pocket” {CottageCutz}
Ink: Weathered Wood, Faded Jeans, Vintage Photo, Antique Linen {Distress Ink}
Misc: Border punch {EK Success}, Vintage Scrabble tiles, Heart Attack Distresser {We R Memory Keepers}
I added this photo of Marlee (taken last summer by the amazing Scott Eastman) and used her sweet pout as the inspiration for my Scrabble tiled title. I used Crate Paper (Emma’s Shoppe Collection) and My Mind’s Eye (Stella & Rose – Mabel Collection) to create this orange and blue color scheme. I just love these colors together!
For the pocket (Peeker Pocket from Cottage Cutz), I used a light blue shade of cardstock and started distressing around the edges. All of my jeans get worn OUT, and I wanted it to look like a good, lived-in jean pocket. So, I took a bit of “Weathered Wood” Distress Ink after it was all frayed along the edges and sponged it on. I then added in a bit of “Faded Jeans” and a touch of “Vintage Photo” Distress Inks for depth. After both inks were blended onto the pocket, I took a medium grit piece of sandpaper and scratched it up for even more of the worn-in look. I adhered the Scrabble tiles with glue dots.

To create this easy-peasy journaling tag, I cut my cardstock down to fit inside the pocket (about 3″ x 3.75″). I stamped my Vintage Notepad background stamp in “Antique Linen” Distress Ink and punched the side with a border punch to make it look like notebook paper.

I think I’m going to make a bunch of these during the girls’ naps this week and keep them on hand for some of my future layouts or SMASH layouts – I love the large 4×4″ size of the pocket – it’s SO versatile for embellishing and for adding in journaling! For a quick intro and to see even more inspiration from the CottageCutz DT, please visit the CottageBlog!

Thanks to the CottageCutz crew for this fantastic opportunity!  And thank all of you so much for all your wonderful and sweet comments you always leave for me. They truly have helped me take chances and try things I otherwise wouldn’t have the confidence to try! You guys are the BEST!!! xoxo Angelica
