CAS Market Street with Real Wood Sheets

Hi everyone! Tonight was one of those nights I just felt like I needed the inspiration to relax, and do something that I could complete in less than an hour. I LOVE that stamping and papercrafting has become a therapy of sorts. Way cheaper than a therapist (well, let’s not tally up cost of my supplies for argument’s sake, k?), and more relaxing than a massage (weird factoid, they make me nauseous). So I thought I’d put together just a quick post tonight to show you a card I made for what I thought was a Splitcoast challenge, turns out it needed to follow a sketch! Oh well, I still uploaded into their CAS gallery (clean and simple) because I really liked how it turned out!

It’s been one of those days where everything just seems to go the exact opposite of what you’d hoped. Nothing too terrible, just things that I am forgetting, overlooking, over committing. Part of that is due to lack of sleep which is why I am keeping this post….short, clean, and simple. :) Come back on Thursday for an extra special post you will love! (At least I hope you do, cause I’m really excited about it!!)

MATERIALS USED:
Paper: Kraft, Dark Chocolate, Rustic Cream {Papertrey Ink}, Real Wood Sheet {Creative Imaginations}
Ink: Jumbo Java, Hint of Pesto {VersaMagic}
Stamps: Of the Same Tree {Market Street Stamps} On sale for just $7.50!
Punch: Pinking Hearts Border Punch {Stampin’ Up}

I think this is my shortest supply list EVER, EVER!! ;)
Have a great night everyone! Stay warm! xo Angelica

Soooo Cheesy – Peachy Keen Winter Release Blog Hop

Hello Hoppers!! Did you come here from Lisa’s blog? If so, than you are in the right place, if not, be sure to head back to the Peachy Keen Blog to find out all about our new releases and hop along the amazing creations our DT has put together for you! There’s a prize to win at each hop, so you definitely don’t want to miss a single one!

When Kathy told me last weekend she wanted to sneak in a few more sets into this release I thought “WHOA WHOA WHOA!” lol!! I wasn’t sure how we’d have enough time to get everything into production and up for sale. Well…as always she amazes me with her dedication to what she loves (drawing and creating new fun little characters for us stampers to enjoy!), and her general “I can do anything” attitude. :) I have to say, I am so glad she got these in because they are ADORABLE!!

I am not technically a football fan, which is unheard of in the “Frozen Tundra” (we operate just a few short miles from Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI)! However, I do love how our home team evokes such  emotion in almost every family you meet in Green Bay. Going shopping during a game is awesome because the stores are COMPLETELY empty!! All you hear is the game generally playing over the audio systems in the stores. Kinda funny when you’re not used to growing up with it.

Here’s my card, I decided to leave the sentiment off so it could be used for any Packer fan no matter what the occasion. It could always be added later! Hope you like it!

Paper – Papertrey Ink – “Kraft” and “Dark Chocolate”
Twine – The Twinery“Lemondrop” and “Peapod”
Stamps – Peachy Keen Stamps: PK-09 Cheesy Packer Fans, PK-025 Go Pack Go (grill) Market Street Stamps: MSS-BK-03 Loopy Loo Polkas

Pssst…if you’re not exactly a “Packer Backer” but you love the idea of snowmen tailgating, check these new guys out: Bottoms Up! and CheerEATer!

I colored the adorable snowmen with Copics and did a little highlighting and doodling with my White Gelly Roll pen. I wanted to keep it simple to keep the focus on the coloring which took me a bit. ;)

Did you like these little Tailgaters? You can WIN a set!!

Peachy Keen has also provided each DT member with one set from the new release to give away to our hoppers! Super exciting!!! All you gotta do to win, is to leave me a comment on this post telling me what your favorite way to color your stamped images is. If you have never colored in your images before, what is one coloring technique you’d like to learn more about? I’ll choose the winner Monday, Nov 15th by 12 pm Noon! Good luck and thank you for coming by!! xo Angelica

Market Street Stamps Birthday Card & Banner Hop Winner

Welcome back everyone and thank you to all of you who left some really beautiful comments on my banner. I am so glad some of you like it enough to create your own just in time for the holidays! What a fantastic hop that was! All my fellow bloggers did an amazing job and I was so inspired along the way! There were a few questions in the comments section so I thought I’d answer them quickly before sharing my card with you all. :)

  • I used craft Glue Dots to hold my banner together (these are super duper strong and hold anything). This is after I realized I should have punched my holes BEFORE assembling my chipboard and patttern paper together – my regular hole punch was not strong enough! :( Hey Santa, I NEED a Crop-a-dile! hehe
  • Comments section – thank you so much for bringing this up, I will work on a way to make it so the comment box is maybe on the bottom of each post? I think that might be better? Right now, in the regular blog “view” the comment count is posted at the top of each post with the title. If you click on a post title, it will show the comment box at the bottom. :)

I have a special card I made for today “inspired by” this fun hop! I love banners, and I love seeing them pop up in miniature form (I love anything miniature!) on cards, layouts, and altered pieces. I had a LOT of scrap pieces from doing my banner, and thought, why not use ‘em all while they’re still on my table (umm..yeah, I haven’t cleaned up in there yet…oops!)?

I decided to use one of the new background stamps from Market Street Stamps (just released today, I love ‘em!) – Perfectly Pretty Grid. To get the tone-on-tone effect, I used VersaMark by Tsukineko and stamped my background. After I cropped with a paper trimmer to 4″ x 4″ (my base card is 5″ x 5″), I added my banner elements and a cute little bird from Follow Your Heart and gave her a coordinating birthday hat and added Martha Stewart microbeads and a Papertrey Ink button for the trim on the hat (thank you Ruthie, for reminding me I had those!!).  All colored cardstock is Papertrey Ink and the pattern paper is from scraps of Everybody loves Christmas by Bella Road. The delicious twine on the banner is “Caribbean” by The Twinery. Hope you like it!

Now onto the winners from the hop! The winner of the Christmas Tag Minis is Sonia!

This banner is terrific. It is so whimsical with a little vintage touch. I love the colors and the faces.One of my favorite Christmas traditions is when my husband reads us the Night Before Christmas…awww…so sweet. Thanks for sharing your wonderful creations. Off to the next stop!

Banner Blog Hop

Welcome to the second stop on Ruthie’s awesome Banner Blog Hop!! (and please, excuse the mess…I decided last night would be a GREAT night to update the look-and-feel of my blog…you’re sensing my sarcasm aren’t you? hehe I’ll be working on it some more this weekend to get it looking just right. ; ) ) If you came here from Alex’s blog, then you’re hopping along just perfect! If not, you’ll want to start there first so you don’t miss a single stop. There are lots of giveaways along the way, so be sure to visit all the blogs on the list if you can.

Today I’m sharing a super cute way to dress up your desk space for the holidays. Turns out, banners are really hard to photograph!! Especially late at night! So, you’ll have to forgive the “aerial” shot, hopefully it’s bright enough that you can see all the elements. I’ll see if I can get a better picture when there’s some natural light coming through my window.

I used coordinating pattern paper (Everybody loves Christmas by Bella Road) and covered chipboard triangles that I cut for each letter in my message. The ribbon is “Ripe Avocado” and “Pure Poppy” from Papertrey Ink. I also used the same colors in Papertrey Ink cardstock on the base circle and each letter. Oh, and for the letters, I used one of my favorite type faces – American Typewriter, and cut them on the Silhouette by QuicKutz. Nifty!

I distressed the circles a bit (as well as the tree) and used the Basic Grey “Frost” embossing folder by Sizzix to give the top circle a little bit of texture. Don’t those colors just make you wanna throw on some mittens and go sledding?

Here is the tree – I turned some leftover circles I had into a few ornaments and used PK-232 Snowflakes and Faces from Peachy Keen Stamps to stamp their cute little snowman expressions.

I snuck in some “Maraschino” twine on the tree from The Twinery. If you haven’t tried their twine yet, let me tell ya, you’re MISSING OUT! LOL Yes, you will be that excited about their super soft string! I absolutely love it and can’t wait to play some more with it!

While I was making this banner, I couldn’t help but think of all the fun new little traditions my husband and I will share with our girls – I hope once they’re old enough, we’ll make holiday decorations and open up the Advent calendar together.

What is your favorite holiday tradition? Leave a comment on this post telling me what it is and I’ll draw two random winners on November 8th who will win either this adorable set of “Christmas Tag Minis” from Peachy Keen Stamps:

or this lil’ “Follow Your Heart” Birdie set from Market Street Stamps:

There is still PLENTY of inspiration to be seen! Click below to jump over to Miss Erin’s blog, or take a peek at the bottom of this post to find where you left off! Happy Hopping!

Wren’s Turning One!

My cousin John and his wife Jessica’s little girl, Wren, is turning one soon, and to celebrate her birthday, they had a party at Wren’s grandparents’ gorgeous lake house today! Jess decorated Wren’s bedroom in a beautiful, fun, bright color scheme, perfect for a growing little one who is anxious to explore the world around them. I used photos of Wren’s nursery as inspiration for her birthday card. I love Jess’s sense of style, so I really wanted to make Wren a card that reflected that!

I stepped out of my comfort zone with this one as you’ll notice I used NO STAMPS! Except, heh, on the inside where I stamped “Happy Birthday”. I couldn’t resist, I also stamped a cute little birthday cake (not pictured) on the matching tag for the gift bag. This card also gave me an opportunity to use the new Silhouette my mom purchased a few weeks ago that has been idly awaiting to be pried out of its box. It sat patiently in my room while we prepared and successfully pulled off our first time exhibiting at CHA the last week in July! Phew! Fun time begins NOW! The “1″ in the circle is what I experimented with, and it was surprisingly easy! I used a font right out of my computer, lined it up in Illustrator, and voila! LOVE IT! For added dimension, I layered the cut image on top of red card stock, and popped it up with pop dots. Take a peek at the recipe listed below for  materials used and let me know what you think?

Card Base: Kraft cardstock  (this particular card I used a value pack I picked up at Michael’s)

Pattern Paper: From the “Penny Lane” stack from My Mind’s Eye

Buttons: Papertrey Ink

Glitter: Doodlebug Designs – Sugar Coating (I used orange glitter on top of orange cardstock. I love this stuff, it reminds me of sprinkles on a cake!)

Doodled polka dots: White Sakura Gelly Roll Pen

Thanks for stopping by! ~ Angelica xo
