PKS Mini Release Hop & Market Street Stamps’ Anniversary Week Kick Off

Hi Everyone! Welcome to the Peachy Keen Stamps Fall Mini Release & Country Bumpkin Blog Hop! If you just came here from the Peachy Keen Blog, you’ve found the first stop – yay! If you just happened to stop by my blog, be sure to check out PKS first so you don’t miss out on all the info!

Peachy Keen Stamps just released some super cute Fall sets earlier this month – if you missed them, be sure to head back to the blog to see all the new sets! Our sweet friend and fellow designer, Lorie, also introduced her new line – Country Bumpkin Stamps – which will be exclusively available through Peachy Keen’s website!! YAY! Congratulations Lorie!!

This hop lasts three days (today – Wednesday) and some of our designers will have new projects posted all three days, so be sure to check the hop during that time. If you leave a comment, each of the designers will choose one lucky commenter to win a $15 gift certificate to Peachy Keen Stamps!! There are over TEN chances to win!

For my card today, I wanted to really make this adorable ear of corn stand out. To do just that, I stamped the multiple stalk corn image first from the Faceless Corn Set (this is easily becoming one of my FAVORITE PKS sets!!). I then inked up just the bottom stalk again and stamped it to create another stalk “growing” next to it.

After I had that stalk stamped, I went ahead and stamped the larger individual cob of corn on top to make it appear like it could be growing or at least popping out from the stalk itself. Because I was paper piecing, masking the stamp was not necessary. The paper covers up any overlapping lines.

Using dimensionals, I popped up the left leaf and the top triangle in his “hair” for a more 3-d look. What do you think?

Here is a list of everything I used to create this super simple (but FUN) card!

MATERIALS USED:
Cardstock: Rustic Cream {Papertrey Ink}, Kraft {stash}
Pattern paper: My Little Shoebox
Fiber: Honeydew and Cappuccino Baker’s Twine {The Twinery}
Stamps: Faceless Corn Set {Peachy Keen Stamps}

Be sure to head to the other PKS Design Team Member’s blogs today through Wednesday and don’t forget you can save 10% MORE on top of the already in-place discounts at PKS! Simply use:

Fall Mash Up Blog Hop featuring Peachy Keen Stamps and SVG Attic

Good morning Hoppers!! Are you just joining us? If so, WELCOME to the Fall Mash Up Blog Hop featuring Peachy Keen Stamps and SVG Attic. If you’ve just arrived here from JESSICA’S blog then you’re hopping on the right on track! Not sure where to start? Head on over to Peachy Keen Stamps’ Blog and catch up on anyone you’ve missed there!

We are showcasing how perfectly Peachy Keen’s whimsical faces and SVG Attic’s adorable SVG cuts pair together.

I used the sweet witch out of the “Spooky Friends” collection over at SVG Attic. I LOVE the variety of costumes in here! Then, I used the pumpkin pile from the “Pumpkin Patch” collection. The limited amount of pieces per shape made this SUPER SUPER simple! I used some Glitz cardstock (glitter cardstock that doesn’t flake!! honest!) in the lime green and black colors to bling up my witchy. For the body and the rest of the cuts, I just used some heavy solid colors that I had in my stash.

For the witch’s face, I used one of Peachy Keen’s newer face collections – “In Stitches”. Isn’t she adorable (if I do say so myself)?  For the pumpkins, I used the “Jack-o-Lantern” faces (one of my fave collections, by the way), and stamped a sentiment from our new “Sweet Spooks” set from Market Street Stamps.

To create shading, I used both “Wild Honey” and “Black Soot” Distress Inks and a foam applicator. I used a white gel pen to highlight areas throughout the card, as well as some faux stitching on the sentiment panel.

Not sure who Peachy Keen Stamps and SVG Attic are? Read a bit about them and the giveaways they’re having below!

Sizzix Fresh Vintage Blog Hop

Hi Everyone and welcome to The Sizzix Fresh Vintage by Eileen Hull Blog Hop! I am SUPER excited to show you an easy project using the 3D Fringed Flower Die and my go-to neutral twine, Cappuccino from The Twinery!!

First, I want to say how excited I am to be a part of this HUGE hop with so many talented people! Can you believe there are 60 designers participating?! I know, it seems like a lot, but it’s all broken down quite nicely. Here’s how it’s set up:

  • Each week, for 6 weeks, there will be new projects featured in the hop. You don’t need to worry about finding a long link list or a specific post, because that fun little button on my right side bar? It will automatically take you to the most recent projects.
  • Did you miss a day or miss a week? Don’t worry, just visit the “FAQ” section at the bottom of this post for more info!
So, ready to see what I created? Let’s go!

Using some chocolate brown and turquoise felt, I ran my die through in my Big Shot Pro.

Super easy, clean cuts.

To create my card, I simply used Fabri-Tac – that’s right – NO sewing -

to glue my flower elements together.

I whipped some twine through a cream button and adhered it with more Fabri-Tac.

I’m surprised I still have all my brain cells after all that glue sniffing!

I polished it up a bit with some shiny silver iRock gems and threaded some Cappuccino twine for a border.

If you are looking for just one neutral twine color, I highly recommend this color from the Twinery.

It seriously matches ANYTHING I can’t match with another color! The sentiment is one of my sentiment designs that was included in the “Chillaxin” set from Market Street Stamps!

Oh wait…what’s this I see? A hidden gem! It’s a pin!

How fun would it be to receive a card that doubles as the gift?

I’m not talking gift cards, folks, this is a brooch you can wear right after you receive the card.

Simply use a bit of hot glue to adhere your pin back to your felt flower and attach

through the front of your card.

I really want to whip up a dozen more of these for an inexpensive little holiday gift.

I think my jean jacket I use in the Fall will appreciate this little accessory very much. ;)

Here’s everything ELSE you need to know about this awesome, awesome hop and the SUPER talented designers who will also be showcasing their projects:

FAQ about the Fresh Vintage Blog Hop:

How do I hop around to see ideas using the current featured die?

Every Tuesday and Thursday between September 27-November 3, 2011 there will be a
new Sizzix Fresh Vintage die featured on 6-10 participating designers’ blogs.
The navigation buttons for “Hop Back” and “Hop Forward” will allow you to easily
hop around and see projects featuring whatever the current die is, since those
buttons are programmed to navigate only to the blogs that are participating for
that die. On the next Tuesday/Thursday, the buttons will automatically reprogram
themselves to navigate to the blogs that are signed up for the next featured
die.

What if I start at a designer’s blog that isn’t one of the 6-10 signed up for
that die?

No problem! Simply hit either the “Hop Forward” or “Hop Back” button on the
Fresh Vintage navigation widget from any blog’s sidebar and you’ll automatically
advance to one of the participating blogs.

Can I go back and view the ideas for a previously featured die?

Of course! Go to Eileen Hull’s blog and find the Fresh Vintage Permalinks button
on her “Blog Hops” page. It will bring up her blog posts where you’ll find
direct links to each participating blog along with a thumbnail image of the
project.

Where can I buy the Sizzix Fresh Vintage dies, by Eileen Hull?

You can visit Sizzix.com to find a local and online retailers for Sizzix
products. Also be sure to visit Oh My Crafts, (http://ohmycrafts.blogspot.com/)
one of this blog hop’s sponsors, (between the dates of September 27-November 12,
2011) and enter for a chance to win a Flower Layers #9 die!

The Blog Hop has ended and the navigation widget is no longer in the sidebar.
How can I see the ideas?

Go to Eileen Hull’s blog and find the “Blog Hops” page. It will bring up her
blog posts where you’ll find direct links to each participating blog along with
a thumbnail image of the project.

Market Street Stamps Sneak Peek {Night Owls & Argyle}

Happy Tuesday! I have to tell you this might go down as one of the LONGEST weeks in the history of long weeks. My 3 year old, Lucy, and I have had a terrible cough since last Thursday night (hers was worse than mine). We went to the doctor yesterday morning and she is currently testing us for pertussis (a.k.a. whooping cough)! Honestly, things could be so much worse, but when I heard our entire family had to be quarantined to our house for the entire week, I kinda panicked. I am nowhere near a “home body” so it will be an interesting week to say the least! We’re all undergoing a round of antibiotics to be on the safe side, but won’t know for sure if it’s pertussis until Monday. Yikes!

On the plus side, there are TONS of exciting things happening on my blog this week – we have the new Market Street Stamps release and an AWESOME blog hop featuring the new Vintage Fresh Sizzix dies by Eileen Hull. They are UH-MAZING! Check out Day 1 by clicking “Forward” and “Backward” below. Every Tuesday and Thursday for the next 6 weeks, new designers, dies and projects will be showcased and automatically updated in the web ring! SUPER cool!

Ready for today’s Market Street Sneak Peek?

Ok, so here we go! I mixed our new ARGYLE background with this ode to coffee set called NIGHT OWLS. I may or may not have only been thinking of myself when I designed this one, I have to admit! haha

I tried to keep it as much on one layer as possible for easy shipping (I know a few other fellow night owls who would love a card like this!) but ended up adding buttons and twine (cause I can never get enough texture)! I used “Lilac” and “Pink Sorbet” from the Twinery.

I stamped my Argyle stamp in “Pear Tart” (Memento) and stamped my owls in “Tuxedo Black” (Memento) and colored with Copics. If I were to redo this card, I would probably start with a smooth Copic-compatible white cardstock rather than the cream color Stampin’ Up stock I chose. I would have been able to blend a bit easier, and since I used Memento for the background as well, it wouldn’t bleed or anything.

Hope you like it! Be sure to hop over to the Market Street Stamps Blog if you haven’t already to find out how you can win these two sets and all of our other releases this week!

Thanks for stopping by!! xo Angelica
