Market Street Stamps November Release :: Sneak Peek 1

Hi Everyone! Are you recovering from the weekend? I had such a nice, relaxing 4 days “off”, I really can’t complain! One of my favorite parts of the weekend (after all the turkey and stuffing were gone, of course) was getting a chance to try out my new Silhouette Cameo! If you’re friends with me on Facebook, I’m sure you’re sick of hearing about it (maybe not!), but I am having SO much fun with it! And, what better way to try out some of the NEW Market Street Stamps that will be released on Wednesday? We’ve got EIGHT brand new sets! Eek! Can’t wait!

For my sample today, I used one of Lori Whitlock’s “Christmas Icon” images to create this pretty present shaped card.

To create the base, I first welded my ribbon and gift box piece into one complete shape.

Afterwards, I used the “offset” feature which does exactly what it says – off-sets your lines by whatever increment you set. In this case, I set it to off-set the lines by .125″.

After welding the completed base (shadow) layer, I duplicated the image and flipped it horizontally and welded the mirrored shape to create my card.

After cutting the card, I cut my individual pieces (only 3 for this card – the base on the gift, top of gift, and ribbon!) and inked the edges using Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I stamped the new “Grace” Background stamp from Market Street Stamps that will be released on Wednesday!

WANT A CHANCE TO WIN this background stamp? Just head on over to the Market Street Stamps blog to see all the sets peeked tonight and another sample from Stephanie! You’ll be SO glad you did!

Thanks for stopping by! xo Angelica

SVG Attic Guest Designer and The Twinery DT Call

Hi Everyone – I’m so honored to be a guest designer here at SVG Attic today! Jessica is a doll to work with, and I’m thrilled to be using some of her designs in a new realm of paper crafting for me – SVGs! Believe it or not, I hadn’t even really attempted cutting an SVG before I found Jessica’s designs. I’m a stamper, and crafting with the help of my computer seemed like a huge leap into the unknown! I saw SVG Attic’s Holiday Boxes and knew that would be a perfect set to really give my Silhouette a good work out!

For today, I decided to do the Pillow Box from Holiday Cheer Gift Boxes two ways. One box is an all-occasion box stamped with “For You” from Market Street Stamps’ Homegrown set. I stamped the sentiment in clear watermark ink and sprinkled with white embossing powder. After hitting it with a heat gun, I went ahead and layered the remaining elements. Isn’t that paper amazing? It’s from Crate Paper’s Farmhouse and Peppermint Collection! To finish off this cute box, I wrapped some Cappuccino twine from The Twinery around it.

The Christmas box was created using Crate Paper’s Peppermint collection and stamped with a “Merry Christmas” sentiment from Peachy Keen Stamps’ “Christmas Words” sentiment set. I love how the wood grain paper looks with that red and pink! I finished off the box again with twine from The Twinery, but this time used Maraschino and Blossom. This combo makes me happy – I definitely need to make a matching card!

Be sure to hop over to SVG Attic today and check out the file I used – it contains four different boxes which you’ll LOVE having in your stash because they can be used for just about anything! I filled these up with Tootsie Rolls, but they would be the perfect size to tuck sweet handmade jewelry, a small ornament or even a cookie cutter!

As I get more familiar with the Silhouette you can BET I’ll have lots more SVG Attic inspiration on my blog!!

Hey speaking of The Twinery – did you happen to visit their BLOG last week? I have some super exciting news!! Monika Wright of I Love it All and I were asked to come back next year as Senior Designers for The Twinery!! SO amazing – and what’s great is that they also have an OPEN CALL  going on right now! So if you LOVE baker’s twine as much as me, and you’d like to join the team, be sure to submit, there’s still time!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Fall Mash Up Blog Hop featuring Peachy Keen Stamps and SVG Attic

Good morning Hoppers!! Are you just joining us? If so, WELCOME to the Fall Mash Up Blog Hop featuring Peachy Keen Stamps and SVG Attic. If you’ve just arrived here from JESSICA’S blog then you’re hopping on the right on track! Not sure where to start? Head on over to Peachy Keen Stamps’ Blog and catch up on anyone you’ve missed there!

We are showcasing how perfectly Peachy Keen’s whimsical faces and SVG Attic’s adorable SVG cuts pair together.

I used the sweet witch out of the “Spooky Friends” collection over at SVG Attic. I LOVE the variety of costumes in here! Then, I used the pumpkin pile from the “Pumpkin Patch” collection. The limited amount of pieces per shape made this SUPER SUPER simple! I used some Glitz cardstock (glitter cardstock that doesn’t flake!! honest!) in the lime green and black colors to bling up my witchy. For the body and the rest of the cuts, I just used some heavy solid colors that I had in my stash.

For the witch’s face, I used one of Peachy Keen’s newer face collections – “In Stitches”. Isn’t she adorable (if I do say so myself)?  For the pumpkins, I used the “Jack-o-Lantern” faces (one of my fave collections, by the way), and stamped a sentiment from our new “Sweet Spooks” set from Market Street Stamps.

To create shading, I used both “Wild Honey” and “Black Soot” Distress Inks and a foam applicator. I used a white gel pen to highlight areas throughout the card, as well as some faux stitching on the sentiment panel.

Not sure who Peachy Keen Stamps and SVG Attic are? Read a bit about them and the giveaways they’re having below!

Cinco de Mayo Blog Hop

Buenos díaaaaaaas! Welcome to the Cinco de Mayo Blog Hop hosted by the sweet & talented Abby {Scrapbookaholic by Abby}. If you just dropped in from Abby’s blog, then you’re in the right spot. If not, be sure to jump over there first so you don’t miss her projects and the prizes up for grabs! Thanks so much for inviting me to be a part of this, Abby!!

Did you know that Cinco de Mayo is celebrated more in the USA than in Mexico itself? And it’s common for people to think it’s Mexico’s Independence Day, but it’s really not! It’s the day Mexico won the Battle of Puebla against French forces. It’s a fun holiday for us to celebrate our Mexican heritage, and much like St. Patty’s Day for Irish descendants, I think it’s safe to say “Everybody’s Mexican on Cinco de Mayo!” ;)

My dad was born and spent the first part of his childhood in Guadalajara, Mexico and I’ve always felt tremendous pride in my family’s traditions, language, and the Mexican-American culture.

But what I LOVE about my heritage the most is the art. Walking into the small shops in L.A. – or closer to me – the National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago always brings me to tears. It’s silly, right, because I should be enjoying it – but that’s how MUCH I enjoy it. The beauty overwhelms me. I collect Talavera pottery, Frida Kahlo-inspired art, Mexican folk art, nichos, milagros, old Calendar prints (two Jesus Helguera prints are hanging in my living room, one of them is this one), punched tin, and anything else I can get my hands on when I visit my family in California.

For my card today, I was inspired by my friend Erin’s card she made for our last Let’s Face it Friday Challenge @ Peachy Keen Stamps. I adore the way she layered border-punched pieces and placed them on her card. I tried a similar technique with mine!

Papel picado is a beautiful paper cutting technique created with chisels. I purchased the shapes for my “papel picado” banner from the Silhouette Studio store. Cutting intricate designs into the heavier cardstock was tough, but overall, I love how it turned out!

For my little chile (from the BFF’s set by Market Street Stamps), I used Versamark watermark ink and stamped our Paisley background onto green cardstock. I then pieced the top of the chile from a piece of white cardstock colored green with my Copics.

I used the same Paisley background stamp to stamp onto the yellow section of my card and used white embossing powder to bring out the design. All cardstock is Stampin’ Up and Papertrey Ink. The sentiment was handwritten and the scrumptious twine is from The Twinery.

Don’t forget to leave a comment across ALL blogs for a chance to win some Market Street Stamps {Punched Tin & BFF’s}!

Your next stop is Erika – you don’t want to miss what she created! Thanks for stopping by! xo Angelica

Market Street Stamps March Sneak Peek – Hippie Chic

It’s all love, peace and happiness over at Market Street Stamps today! We’re sneak peeking “Hippie Chic” – a set I’ve been anxious to show you for weeks! This 5.5 x 8.5″ set comes with 9 artistic sentiments and phrases, and 6 original images illustrated by me! Be sure to swing by the Market Street Blog for a chance to win this set before we release it on Thursday night!

hip·pie  noun \ˈhi-pē\ : a usually young person who rejects the mores of established society (as by dressing unconventionally or favoring communal living) and advocates a nonviolent ethic

{I’m not sure about the communal living – ;) – but I am sure you’ll find my take on the dress form a bit “unconventional”.} I used minimal layers to focus in on my image and sentiment. I doodled a bit around the edges of my frame – have I mentioned I just discovered the JOY of my Silhouette?!

MATERIALS USED:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink
Pattern Paper: Phoebe {Basic Grey}
Stamps: Hippie Chic {coming Thursday!} {Market Street Stamps}
Ink: Rich Cocoa {Memento}, Stormy Sky {Distress Ink}
Twine: Blossom, Honeydew {The Twinery}
Misc: Artisan Nesties {Silhouette – Samantha Walker Designs}, White Gelly Roll Pen, Custom Button {Epiphany Crafts Button Studio}, Vintage Cream Button {Papertrey Ink}, Corner Rounder, Paper Piercer, Prismacolor Pencils & Odorless Mineral Spirits {for blending}

Curious about that custom button? I created it using my new Ephiphany Crafts Button Studio! Peachy Keen Stamps will have these up on their website in the next couple of days! I used a scrap of the same pattern paper used on my card to create a custom button – ooh la la! Very chic! ;)

That small slit is where you place your paper you use to create your own buttons!

Here’s what the “punch” part at the top looks like. It’s actually super easy to use once you create your first button and I know I’ll be using it again and again when I’m in a pinch and need a matching button QUICK!

Thanks for dropping by, I hope you left inspired and anxious for this next release! See you again tomorrow when we peek the final two sets before the big reveal on Thursday!

Have a wonderful evening!! xo Angelica
