Peachy Keen Stamps’ January Blog Hop

Alright Peachy Keen peeps, you are officially at the end of the hop! So, if you just came from Lisa’s blog, then you’ve come from the right place. If not, be sure to start back at the Peachy Keen Stamps blog to see what everyone has created for this SUPER fun release! I hope you had a ton of fun checking out everyone’s projects!

So, before I show you my project, I have a little, teensy weensy confession to make. I consider myself Cricut-Challenged. But, inspired by all the incredible bloggers out there showcasing their Peachy projects, I decided to challenge myself to get over my fear of my Cricut, and just give it a go! I usually only use the Cricut for small things like numbers, small shapes, and things like that. This time, I couldn’t wait to use the adorable Twinkle Toes cartridge and the new Wide-Eyed faces!

MATERIALS USED:
Cardstock: Pure Poppy, True Black {Papertrey Ink},  White, Peach {From Stash}
Ink: Tuxedo Black {Memento}
Stamps: Wide-Eyed Kids, Valentine’s Sweets {Peachy Keen Stamps}
Embellishment: Be My Valentine  {We R Memory Keepers – trimmed out a section for “Do You Like Me”} Ribbon {From Stash}
Fiber:Maraschino Twine {The Twinery}
Cricut Cartridge: Twinkle Toes {Little Girl, Dress, Valentine Heart}
Misc: Spica Pens, Copics {for the mouth} Micron Pen, Medium White Gelly Roll Pen, Border Punch {Martha Stewart}, Corner Rounder {1/2″}

I cut my lil’ Valentine girl out from Twinkle Toes at 3.5″ and cut the dress out at 3.75″ since it wasn’t the one that fit this particular little “dancer”.  Then, I trimmed the top of the dress a little bit to make it fit, but I think it turned out ok! I cut this cutie straight from my Cricut – no Gypsy or Design Studio required to hide the face! Just cut the base layer (that you’d typically cut for the hair only) in  your skin tone, and cut another base layer out in the hair color desired. In my case, I chose brown. You’ll snip the hair off the brown cut, and layer on top of your skin-toned layer. This way, you don’t need to do anything extra (besides trimming off the hair) to prepare your shape for some Peachifying!

I doodled a little on her dress with black stitches (Micron Pen) and hearts (Spica pen). The red layer on the card is done by using the “xoxo” border from the recently-released Valentine Sweets set from Peachy Keen Stamps. I stamped it with Versamark (fave!) to give it a tone-on-tone look. I hope you all enjoyed my card!

If you’d LOVE the chance to win an adorable Wide-Eyed face assortment, just leave a comment on this post {you don’t have to become a follower, but you’re always welcomed to!} and I’ll draw one random winner on Monday morning! That’s it! Good luck everyone!

Here’s the complete hop order if you just happened upon this post :)

New Valentine’s Day PKS!

Phew! What a week! I haven’t had a chance to post anything new here until today, and I am totally going through blogging withdrawls! :) In case you missed it, we just announced the new Design Team and Guest Designers for Market Street Stamps on Tuesday!! SOOO exciting, these ladies are all extremely talented, and I can’t wait to see what they create! {I posted all their links on my sidebar for quick reference. We’ll also have a new guest designer each month, the talented Ms. Janice is up this month!}

And…… Peachy Keen Stamps released their Valentine’s Day sets this week, too! Oh my, when I saw this little Cupid Mouse {PK-281 Valentine Cupids}, I knew I couldn’t wait to color him!! I have to admit, like the frog a couple posts ago, I just couldn’t find my groove coloring him this time! I literally tried about 8 times until I was finally happy. It’s ok if you find yourself in the same boat, just keep trying. Copic markers are kind of like a newborn baby {specifically learning to nurture all the needs of said baby}, you just keep trying until you find what works best for you and your “baby”! There is truly no “wrong” way to color, just ways that are more pleasing to the eye than others! ;) Anyway, my point is, keep trying. You WILL get it, and when you do, you will probably LOVE it! That is exactly what happened to me with this card.

MATERIALS USED:
Cardstock: Whisper White {Stampin’ Up}, Silver Specialty Paper {Recollections}, Super Smooth White {Mohawk — for Copic panel}Pattern Paper: Fruit Slice Land {Sassafras}
Ink: Tuxedo Black {Memento}
Bling: eAccent Stickers {Recollections}
Stamps: Valentine’s Day Cupids {Peachy Keen Stamps}
Misc: Copic Markers, Airbrush, Blue Skies & Turquoise Glimmer Mist {Tattered Angels}, Pinking Hearts Border Punch {Stampin’ Up}
Close up of this adorable mousey!

If you’ve been following my blog for awhile, you’ll notice I hardly ever use “bling”. I even feel funny saying it. LOL I just have never really found that it fits my style and so, never purchased anything like it. The “blingiest” I get are Stickles. However, I purchased some on clearance and I think I am in love! For this card in particular, I thought it lent the extra dimension I needed.

This was also the first time I broke out my Copic airbrush system my mama got me for Christmas! Love the airbrush, I had a few issues with my masking technique (aka it was sloppy) so I had a lot of blending to do afterward and if you look you will also see some seepage. Oh well, I know better for next time! To “fix” my almost-nightmare I added some Glimmer Mist from TA. I LOVE that stuff and plan to show you guys some really fun ways to use it on your cards in upcoming posts.

Before I head to watch a movie with the mistah, I wanted to let you all know I have another exciting announcement on Monday!!! It includes one of my favorite people in the universe, two of my passions, and of course, YOU GUYS! I can’t wait, I hope you’ll stop by if you get a chance and check it out!

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend!!! :) Angelica
